M.A.T.H. Academy and Learning Center offers a new approach to homeschooling. With our hybrid model, students will attend in-person classes three days a week and complete assignments at home two days a week. Parents can also select only the courses that meet their needs. M.A.T.H. was created to assist parents in their homeschool experience. For many families, COVID-19 completely changed what school looked like. Parents and students were forced to make drastic changes to their school schedule, and those changes were quite challenging. Those changes included no in-person classes, classes set up through zoom or another video platform, blended learning with attending class some days in person and attending online the other days, and classes set up online with little to no explanation as to what the student needs to learn. All of these changes made it difficult for some students to have a successful learning experience.

M.A.T. H. wants to partner with parents to offer students an excellent academic experience. This model allows our well-experienced instructors to assist parents with academics. Instructors will engage students in activities that bring concepts to life. Students will participate in classes that are enjoyable and stimulating. Our model allows parents the flexibility to hand the teaching over to our instructors and oversee work at home.

We hope to create an encouraging environment where students can grow and learn in a community focused on outstanding character and excellent academics. We aspire for students to develop confidence in new skills and meet new friends.

Welcome! My name is Melissa Wade, but I go by Missy. I am a wife, mother of two, and a teacher. I have been married 34 years to my childhood sweetheart. Our daughter Shelby is 25, our son Carson is 22. I homeschooled both children for a total of 13 years. Shelby has an associate degree in Biology and recently graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She is currently attending OTA school. Carson joined the Air Force following graduation from high school and currently serves as a Crew Chief on a KC-46 Aircraft.

I received a bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in mathematics from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1990. In September 2019, I started school at Western Governors University and have graduated with a Master of Education degree in Instructional Design.

After having other jobs, life led me to teach mathematics. I continue to teach today, and I  absolutely love it! I have been teaching in the homeschool community for over 18 years at various co-ops, teaching classes of my own, and private tutoring. I am an Adjunct Professor of Developmental Mathematics at OCCC and have taught at OSU-OKC as well. I was also the director of a homeschool co-op for six years.

I am excited about M.A.T.H. Academy and Learning Center and look forward to a great school year.
